2023 Step Challenge: Walk for Wellbeing
In October 2023 Pinnacle hosted a two week “Step Challenge” event with 150 employees from across the Group participating. This event was aligned with Mental Health Month, commencing on World Mental Health Day, Tuesday 10 October.
The Challenge encouraged staff to walk for their mental and physical health whilst promoting healthy competition as both individuals and across teams. The Foundation, and its focus on supporting mental wellbeing charities, was promoted through Pinnacle donating $2,000 every time 1 million collective steps were taken. Batyr and ReachOut, two of the Foundation’s charities working with youth mental health, were chosen to be the recipients of the fundraising.
Participants took a total of 22 million combined steps, equating to $44,000 raised for the Foundation. At the conclusion of the Challenge, all participants as well as all Pinnacle staff were invited to help determine which batyr and ReachOut programs would receive these funds.
Reflecting clear cut decisions from those who voted, batyr has received $22,000 to enable 733 young people to attend a batyr@school mental health educational program. ReachOut has received $22,000 to fund over 300 hours of out-of-hours online moderation to assist young people at the times when they need help the most.
To add to this support, Five V Capital ran their own internal competition within a competition. By walking a total of 6,000km as a team, they reached their own goal and subsequently donated an additional $5,000 to batyr and also to ReachOut.
