Dennis’ Story: Are They Triple OK?

Funded by the Foundation, ‘Are They Triple OK?’ is a national campaign that focuses on increasing levels of peer and social support for police and emergency service workers, volunteers and their family and friends.

The latest resources go beyond the uniform by hearing from the voices of those in the industry with lived experiences to help break down stigma.

With 28 years’ experience in the emergency services, Dennis shares practical tools and tips on how to build a mentally healthy workplace and how to have a conversation with a peer who might be struggling with life’s ups and downs. He also discusses the importance of self-care in order to look after our own mental health.

“Sometimes being brave is speaking up when you’re having issues,” Dennis says. “Reaching out to your mates and checking in on them and putting steps in place to support people. It’s improving culture, it’s removing stigma.”
