Board of Directors
Alan is Non-executive Independent Chair and a member of the Remuneration and Nominations Committee for Pinnacle Investment Management Group.
Alan became Chair of Pinnacle in 2016.
During his executive career, Alan worked in investment banking, accumulating over 30 years of experience within various global equity markets. During this period, he was responsible for starting and leading a number of securities businesses both in Europe and Asia, advising many companies on capital structuring, initial public offerings, takeovers and mergers and investment relations strategies. Alan held positions as Managing Director at Barclays de Zoete Wedd Limited, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc and as Head of Securities Europe for Macquarie Capital (Europe) Ltd., concluding his executive career in 2011.
Subsequent to this he has been an independent director of various public companies, both in Australia and North America. In addition to Pinnacle, currently Alan is also an independent director of Airboss of America, listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and an independent non-executive director of Australis Oil and Gas, listed on the ASX.
Ian is Founder and Managing Director of Pinnacle Investment Management Group.
Ian was appointed Managing Director of the Company on 17 August 2016 and an Executive Director on 25 August 2016, having been the Managing Director and Chair of PIML since 2006. Ian’s career to date has included more than 25 years as the CEO and chief investment officer of investment management firms, including the establishment of Australia's first "multi-boutique" funds management firm (Perennial Investment Partners – founding Managing Director from 1998), building a major new investment corporation (Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC)- inaugural Chief Executive from 1988), and the management of a major Australian bank's investment operation (Westpac Investment Management; Managing Director from 1993).
Ian’s early experience, in more than 10 years at Queensland Treasury, included extensive involvement with many major Australian and International financial market participants, and the Queensland Government’s commercial participation in many major industrial development projects during the late 1970s and the 1980s. He was a First Assistant Under Treasurer when he moved to build and lead QIC.
Ian is also a director of the following Pinnacle Affiliates: Aikya, Antipodes, Coolabah, Hyperion, Metrics, Palisade, Plato, Resolution Capital and Solaris.
Deborah is a Non-executive Independent Director, Chair of Remuneration and Nominations Committee and member of the Audit Compliance and Risk Management Committee for Pinnacle Investment Management Group.
Deborah began her working career in the finance industry where she was employed by Merrill Lynch for over a decade. She then moved to Ernst & Young where she specialised in risk management, governance and public and government relations. Deborah also served and continues to serve on a number of government, public, private and not-for-profit boards. Her broad experience includes the areas of finance, corporate governance, risk management, government and public relations.
Deborah is also the Chair of the Melbourne Convention Bureau, Visit Victoria and The Production Company.
Lorraine is a Non-executive Independent Director, Chair of Audit Compliance and Risk Management Committee and member of Remuneration and Nominations Committee for Pinnacle Investment Management Group.
Lorraine has worked in the financial services industry for 40 years and possesses extensive experience in both investment management and superannuation. Before moving to a non-executive career in 2014, she worked for 15 years with US based investment manager Marvin & Palmer Associates. Lorraine contributed extensively to industry associations throughout her executive career, serving on the boards of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA Australia, now the CIMA Society of Australia) for 13 years (7 as Chair) and the Association of Superannuation Funds Australia (ASFA) for 12 years (3 as Chair). Lorraine has been awarded Life Membership of both the CIMA Society and ASFA. Ms Berends holds a BSc from Monash University, is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute and a Fellow of ASFA.
Lorraine is an independent non-executive director of Plato Income Maximiser Limited, Spheria Emerging Companies Limited and Hearts and Minds Investments Limited (listed investment companies) and a company appointed director of Qantas Superannuation Limited.
Andrew is an Executive Director and Head of Institutional and International Divisions at Pinnacle Investment Management Group. Andrew is also a director of Pinnacle's international subsidiaries and the following Affiliates: Five V, Metrics, Plato and Riparian.
Andrew was appointed Executive Director of the Company on 1 September 2016 and has been a senior executive with Pinnacle since he commenced with the firm in March 2008. Andrew has over 20 years of global distribution experience across institutional, wholesale and retail markets and is currently responsible for leading the firm’s institutional and international divisions and assessing new affiliate partnerships. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Andrew worked as a senior distribution executive for Franklin Templeton.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from Kaplan Professional.
Christa specialises in employment and workplace law, with a practice that spans both the public and private sectors. She has 20 years’ experience in advising and representing clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, including discrimination law, industrial disputation, enterprise bargaining, day to day employment law advisory, managing psychosocial welfare and organisational change, workplace investigations and alternative dispute resolution.
Christa is a trusted advisor to many government agencies and works with clients across a range of industries, including banking and financial services, health and aged care, maritime and logistics, technology and the amusement industry.

Amy is Pinnacle Investment Management’s Director of Talent Acquisition and Development, and is responsible for people oriented aspects such as sourcing, developing, retaining and enabling our employees.
Amy is an Organisational Psychologist and has over 20 years of experience in Australia, the US, Asia and the Middle East.
Amy joined Pinnacle in 2018. Prior to this, she spent time working in the US, firstly in a psychological consulting firm before moving to Macquarie, where she was responsible for establishing the Talent function in the Americas and supporting all Macquarie’s operating groups from a Talent perspective. She then moved to an SVP role supporting Macquarie’s Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities and Finance businesses. Amy moved back to Australia to support Macquarie’s retail bank from an HR perspective before moving to BT Financial Group in a Head of HR role.
Calvin is Chief Legal & Commercial Officer and Company Secretary of Pinnacle Investment Management Group Limited.
Prior to joining Pinnacle, Calvin practised as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills with expertise in funds management, financial services, M&A and commercial transactions. Calvin has also worked at UBS Global Asset Management and Deutsche Bank in Sydney and New York.
Calvin holds a Master of Applied Finance, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Business Law) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance. Calvin is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Dan is Pinnacle Investment Management's Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the group’s finance, technology and operations functions.
Dan has 20+ years professional experience in both Australia and overseas.
Dan joined Pinnacle in 2010. Prior to Pinnacle, he spent the first years of his career with Ernst & Young in the UK, working predominantly with financial services clients, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2002. Following this, Dan spent over four years at Credit Suisse, heading up the Client Accounting function responsible for US$70bn of assets, predominantly in hedge funds and private equity assets, including in major offshore jurisdictions.
Kyle is a Director at Pinnacle Investment Management, responsible for Wholesale and Retail Distribution in Australia.
Kyle joined Pinnacle in 2023 with over 15 years experience in various sales and marketing roles in Funds Management, Technology, and B2B firms. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Kyle was an Investment Director and COO at Firetrail Investments, a Pinnacle affiliated boutique investment manager which Kyle co-founded in 2018 and helped to grow into a $7.5bn (AUD) asset manager. Prior to Firetrail, Kyle worked in Distribution as an Investment Specialist at Macquarie Asset Management.
Kyle holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Newcastle University and a Bachelor of Communications from Western Sydney University.
Chris is a Director at Pinnacle Investment Management, responsible for driving the listed products business including in excess of $5bn of FUM across active ETFs and listed closed end funds (LICs and LITs).
Chris joined Pinnacle in 2018. Prior to Pinnacle, Chris was the CEO of RMI Investment Managers since 2015 where he built an asset management business by partnering with ten independent boutique asset management businesses in South Africa, collectively managing $10bn of FUM.
Prior to that, Chris was the founder and CEO of RMB Morgan Stanley since 2006, successfully leading the company to be the number one institutional equity business in South Africa.
Chris spent three years prior to that in New York as an Executive Director in Morgan Stanley’s US Equity research team where he analysed the US brokerage, asset management and stock exchange industries. Chris started off his career as an analyst and portfolio manager for six years at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in both London and Princeton, New Jersey managing US and Global Equity funds.
Chris is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Business Science honours graduate of the University of Cape Town.

Pinnacle is committed to providing a flexible working environment that suits an employee’s personal circumstances. Several employees are currently on part time working arrangements to enable them to balance family and personal responsibilities.
Compressed working weeks is another initiative Pinnacle is receptive to in circumstances where it is warranted. Following the birth of a child, the relevant people manager remains in communication with the employee on parental leave via ‘Keeping in Touch’ days so they feel informed and connected thereby assisting with the transition back to work.
