Firetrail S3 Global Opportunities Fund (Managed Fund) listed on the ASX

Firetrail Investments have launched the S3 Global Opportunities Fund (Managed Fund) (the Fund) on the ASX, with the ASX ticker S3GO. 

S3GO.ASX is a concentrated portfolio of Firetrail’s best global equity ideas. The investment process employs fundamental analysis to identify the most attractive investment opportunities with sustainable characteristics. The Fund gains its investment exposure by investing in units of an underlying fund, the Firetrail S3 Global Opportunities Fund. 

The Fund aims to outperform the MSCI World Net Total Return Index (AUD) over the long term. 

Patrick Hodgens, Managing Director, said the Fund’s investment strategy is designed to identify the most attractive investment opportunities with sustainable positive change characteristics. 

“We see huge opportunities to deliver our clients superior investment returns by identifying companies that are future and current leaders in positive change. Investing is not about what companies are today, it’s about what they will be in the future. The same is true for sustainability.” 

James Miller, Portfolio Manager, said that the focus of the 8-strong global equity team on the key drivers of a company’s earnings and the share price allows Firetrail to find global companies across a wide investment universe. 

“S3 refers to the three attributes of the ideal stocks for the portfolio – Sustainable business models, Sustainable earnings, and Sustainable positive change. We assess a company against these attributes not today, but on our forecasting 5 years into the future. Sustainability is not simply as risk to be managed – it’s an investment opportunity”. 

Anthony Doyle, Head of Investment Strategy, said S3GO offers Australian investors the ability to harness Firetrail’s global investment edge via one trade on the ASX. 

“S3GO is a portfolio of companies that are misunderstood or unrecognised by the wider investment community. Because of this, the portfolio is typically very different to both passive and active global equity ETFs,” 

“This Fund is for investors who are seeking a long-term exposure to a high conviction, concentrated portfolio of global equities. It can be used as either a core component or satellite within an investment portfolio for investors with a time horizon of 5 years, which allows for the positive change cycle to take place.” Mr Doyle said. 

The Fund has received a “Recommended” rating from Zenith and “Investment Grade” from Lonsec. The Fund has also been certified by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA).
