Life Cycle Investment Partners: A Different Perspective on Global Equity Income

Pinnacle recently welcomed investors to Manicomio City in London for a lunch with Life Cycle Investment Partners, exploring the team’s distinctive approach to global equity income and the opportunities they are finding across today’s market.

The discussion, hosted by Nico de Walden, Life Cycle’s Global Equity Portfolio Manager, centred on the firm’s Corporate Life Cycle framework, which seeks to identify compelling investments across five different stages of a company’s development – from accelerating and compounding businesses through to mature companies and turnarounds.

Rather than relying on a particular investment style or macroeconomic view, the team’s focus is on stock selection and portfolio balance. By looking for different characteristics at each stage of the corporate life cycle, Life Cycle believes it can access a broader opportunity set and build a portfolio with genuinely differentiated sources of return.

Niko also touched on some of the major questions facing global equity investors today, including the extraordinary investment taking place around AI infrastructure, changing industry dynamics and how the team approaches valuation and position sizing in an increasingly fast-moving market.

For the Global Equity Income strategy, Niko highlighted how income is considered as part of a company’s wider ability to generate cash and allocate capital effectively – allowing the portfolio to look beyond the traditional areas associated with income investing.

A lively Q&A followed the presentation, covering topics including portfolio construction, AI, company engagement, diversification and how Life Cycle uses technology within its own investment research process.

The lunch provided a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the investment team, dig deeper into the philosophy behind the strategy and discuss how the Corporate Life Cycle framework is being applied in current markets.
